 | August 16th, 2005 | I, Slowbot
And with the worst movie title pun yet seen on this site, I'd like to formally welcome you all back after a lengthy absence. "Why has it been so long?", I hear you asking (literally, in many cases!)
Well, aside from the usual World Championship Procrastination, I spent the months after the last update taking surprisingly few photos - no particular reason, just a lack of visual inspiration combined with a few time-and-computer-consuming projects. All that seems to have cured itself, and so I can present you with this new gallery containing 49 of the best shots from the past (gasp!) six months, and I can assure you the wait won't be anywhere near as long for the next batch. And I know you'll hold me to that :)

 | February 23rd, 2005 | Return Of The Redeye
Okay, so I managed to go from "by the close of next weekend" to the tail end of February. Which means either it was the longest few days in history, or else it was the Silly Season playing annoying games with the crowds at Retro and elsewhere. As you probably guessed already (does anyone actually read these intros?), the latter is true. This larger-than-usual batch of photos takes in New Years Eve (as usual a fairly quiet one in clubland), all of January (the standard "where did all these strange people in pink business shirts come from?" month) and a generous helping of February. With things now getting back to normal again, updates should be much more frequent. No, really.

 | December 26th, 2004 | Reindeer Games
In which we present the highlights of the lead-up to (and aftermath of) the Christmas behemoth of the last few weeks; the lengthy wait between updates this time around has been due to a shortage of photos that passed the quality-control test - but with New Year's Eve mere days away, expect some celebratory photographic goodness by the close of next weekend...
|
 | December 2nd, 2004 | Send Me An Angle
Welcome back for another set of highlight photos from a pair of weekends in the increasingly summer-esque Melbourne, where a nice Friday night of music and dancing can turn out to be an invitation to an unexpected sauna (and that's BEFORE you get inside the club). If you notice a prevalance of posed photos in this batch, that's only because people keep posing when they see the camera's focus light. So, err, stop it - almost everyone looks better when they ignore the camera. Almost.

 | November 18th, 2004 | Commitment To Sparkle Motion
Another two weekends of late-night imagery - a pair of weekends that were besieged by ridiculous amounts of rain, wind, hail, exams and the arrival in Melbourne of a large group of record-breakingly drunk Irish girls, none of whom are represented here. From here on in, the run-up to the Silly Season begins in earnest. Expect the unexpected. Though if you expect it, it's not actually unexpected at all. But I digress.

 | November 1st, 2004 | Half Of October, Double The Space
If you've been patiently (or impatiently) waiting for updates to the site, your torment can now, err, stop. Having run out of server space and not wanting to delete too many older photos, I've handed over some pounds to double the storage and the stage is now set for another few months of nocturnal photoness. Zonino! This collection of 19 pictures covers the past three weekends, two of which were a little less productive in the photo department than usual due to one final attack on myself from that mystery Melbourne malaise we call The Bug. Better now. A nocturnal summer awaits...

 | October 14th, 2004 | Lasers, Light-Conjuring and the Meaning of Life
Okay, admittedly the actual meaning of life doesn't quite get solved in this batch of 18 photos from Retro and DV8 - but it would have, if only the key to the meaning of life was being confronted by a digicam set determinedly to night mode. Yes, night mode. Will it ever stop? Err, yes, actually. Just as soon as I tire of all the pretty colours.

 | October 6th, 2004 | Attack Of The Night Mode
And if that gallery title made no sense to you, it will when you see this batch of photos! Okay, so I discovered last week that if I set the camera to a mode designed for taking boring pictures of people standing still at night, but instead use it to capture movement, strange things happen. However, looking through last weekend's batch of pictures, I have possibly over-used it a teensy bit. Meh. Let's still call it art and be done with it. This batch of images comes from Retro, Dream and Carmilla's (yes, he's back to his old ways!)

 | September 29th, 2004 | Here Comes September
It's been a few weeks since our last thrilling nocturnal instalment, but that's mainly been due to a lack of quality photos which was, in turn, due to a surprising lack of people actually being around to be photographed. I blame what many in Melbourne are calling (cue ominous music) The Bug. But I digress. Here's the best of the last three weekends, from the usual places as well as - *gasp* - a couple I haven't shot photos at before, venturing to Cabaret Nocturne (at Dream on Fridays) and late-night Saturday at Pony. The colour-shift effects on some of the later pictures were not created on a computer, by the way - just like every other photo on this site, they're camera originals. Check below each photo for the date and time they were captured; regular updates should resume from here on in!

 | September 6th, 2004 | Spring Arrives, Nobody Notices
Successfully saved from the temptation to do a gallery title in Latvian this week, here's the latest batch of photos from last Friday and Saturday night in Melbourne (or at least the bits of Melbourne I happened to be in at the time). This was an unusally quiet weekend for many of Melbourne's clubs, but somehow I still ended up with over 200 pictures, from which I've grabbed 17 for this week's instalment...
|
 | September 2nd, 2004 | Plus De Personnes Au Milieu De La Nuit!
Okay, okay, but YOU try finding titles for these things every week! Here's another batch of moments from a weekend where I somehow managed to fire off over 200 shots; the fact that there's only 18 here speaks volumes for (a) quality control and (b) an attempt to not use up all my server space :)
|
 | August 25th, 2004 | Same Planet, Different Citizens. Mostly.
Breaking absolutely no new ground whatsoever, here's another journey into the worlds of... oh, you know where by this stage! This week featuring the return of the Mysterious Light Conjuror (TM), an unexpected resurgence of punk, and a special mystery cameo appearance (!)

 | August 17th, 2004 | Episode 5: Winter? What Winter?
And yes, I'm running out of ideas for gallery titles; suggestions are welcome. This batch of photos were shot on the weekend of spoooky Friday 13th and Saturday 14th August, 2004, at Retro (both floors), DV8 and Carmilla's. Will Anthony ever go out anywhere different after work? Stay tuned!

 | August 3rd, 2004 | They Keep Coming... Club Pics, Saturday 31st July 2004
Going on the why-stop-now theory, here's a small batch of shots from Retro and Carmilla's on a fairly medium-quiet Saturday night.

I'm a nightclub DJ and music journalist in Melbourne (though most of you visiting this site already knew that!)
The pictures on these pages were shot at the club where I DJ (Retro) as well as wherever I happened to end up after work or during the week.
